Cross Junction, which encompasses Lake Holiday and surrounding areas, includes rain-fed streams and springs and is the traditional home of the indigenous Shawnee. A few old farms in the area are owned by descendants of the founders of an 18th-century European-American community. Some date back to the days when George Washington first visited and surveyed the land.
